Life on La Pinta ⚓️

The Galapagos Islands

Every morning on La Pinta we would get woken up by classical music at 7 in the morning.

Don’t get me wrong, I like classical music and I don’t know what else they would wake us up with.  Rock and roll music?  I bet you Luke and my Dad would like that.

Anyways, after that we would usually have about 30 minutes to get ready and everyone got ready really fast so we all got on our devices in the bar and caught up on everything, like Instagram and/or emails.

Of course

At around 7:30, we would eat breakfast either outside on the deck or inside where we ate lunch and dinner.

Since we are a big family, we got our own table to ourselves with an extra seat for Fred (he’s not real by the way), who Luke and I give our plates to and they would magically disappear.

After breakfast, the people who were done getting ready would go back to the bar and go on our devices again.  8:30 was when everything started happening.  We would usually go on a hike or on the panga (aka dingy) around the island we were at that day.  That was the beginning of the picture craziness.

And by that I mean having WAY too many pictures on our phones or cameras

After the first outing, everyone would just chill in the bar area or we would have another adventure after 30 minutes.  Since Luke, Nico and I made friends, we would play sardines or some other game with them.

If you don’t know what sardines is, worry no more I will tell you!  It’s a game where one person hides and the rest of the people try and find them.  Once one of the kids playing finds the person hiding they hide with them and earn a point or something like that.  Then all the rest of the kids find them and the game is over.  The first person to find the hider wins and hides the next round.

We became friends with 3 kids that were on the ship with us — Will, Reese and Sarah.

I know right — another Reese!  Sadly, she was 10 but it was still fun.

Will and Reese were brother and sister.  Will was 12, Luke’s age and Reese was 10.  Sarah was also 12 and was from Quito.  She went to an American school which means all the kids in her school were Caucasian and spoke English.  So she could communicate with us.  On the last 2 nights, we had a kids table where we would all sit and the parents would sit together.  We would play games like 21 questions and stuff like that.  It’s going to be sad to not have a lot of other kids while we are traveling.

At around 12:30 we would have lunch.  Lunch was a buffet with a whole bunch of different foods.  After that we would go out again or have a lecture about Darwin.  At around 4, if we didn’t go on one before, we would go on ANOTHER adventure touring the island.

I know, so many adventures!

When we got back to La Pinta we would have some time to relax before dinner.  Luke, Nico and I would play with Will, Reese, and Sarah.  We would have a lecture about the next day and what we were going to do.

That would take around 30 minutes.

After that we would have dinner.  We played games while we ate and it got heated. (haha)  After dinner/after the kids finished, we would all meet up in the library area where they kept the cookies and hang out there.  We would usually play board games or stuff like that.  When the parents where done they would find us and we would get ready for bed.

And at the end of the day it felt soooo good to lay down in bed and sleep.

The next day it would start again.
